We will also visit Santa Marta, Colombia, the oldest surviving city in South America. While in Santa Marta, you will see some of Colombia's native culture by visiting the settlement of one of the most traditional indigenous communities in the North of the country. You will also get the chance to experience the tropical culture of this Colombian city. This tour is so much more than a beach vacation, as Tayrona National Park plus Santa Marta will expose you to unique perspectives of Colombia.

Santa Marta, founded by the Spanish conquistador Rodrigo de Bastidas in 1525, is the oldest city in South America. The city is rich in history and well-preserved colonial architecture. Santa Marta is also the home of the Quinta de San Pedro Alejandrino, where the national hero Simon Bolivar died in 1830.
Tayrona Natural Park
The Tayrona National Natural Park is one of the most popular natural parks in Colombia for its unspoiled natural beauty and biodiversity. The park contains some of the most beautiful beaches in Colombia, some bordered by coral reefs, providing good snorkelling and scuba-diving opportunities.
The Kogui are the indigenous community inhabiting the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta, the highest mountain in Colombia located in the Tayrona Natural Park. The Kogui people, who manage Taironaka, are descendants of the ancient Tayrona civilization that inhabited this area more than a thousand years ago. During the stay at Taironaka it is possible to visit the remains of the terraces and aqueduct structures built by the Tayronas. Taironaka is also a great place to admire the fauna and flora of the region and learn about the ancient Tayrona civilisation
Travel to Santa Marta in the morning. Upon arrival in Santa Marta, we will pick you up from the airport or bus terminal for a city tour.
During the tour, we will visit the historic centre of Santa Marta and the Quinta the San Pedro Alejandrino, the house where Simon Bolivar died in December, 1830. Bolivar was the commander-in-chief of the patriot army that liberated what today are the countries of Colombia, Venezuela, Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia and Panama from Spanish rule.

Today we will spend the day at Tayrona National Natural Park where we will enjoy some of the most beautiful beaches in Colombia. Our first stop will be the viewpoint over the Playa de las Siete Olas, a magnificent vantage point to discover the impressive landscape of this natural park. Next, we will walk to Playa Neguanje and then take a motorboat to Playa Cristal, a great place to swim in the serene blue sea or just relax at the beach.

In the morning, we will go to Taironaka, a natural reserve located on the foothill of the Sierra Nevada, and home of a native Kogui community. We will learn about the Kogui culture and the Tayrona civilisation, we will visit some remains of the terraces and aqueduct structures built by the Tayrona people during pre-Columbian times.
After the tour, we will transfer you to the airport or bus terminal.
